Every morning, children make their way from home to school. Walking, riding,
skipping, running, leaving behind their parents, their dreams and dreads
of the night before. They walk alone, or with a friend, trying to avoid
the neighborhood bully, escorting a reluctant sibling to kindergarten.
And at the end of school day, they’re on the way back home –
in school buses, parents’ cars, on foot, riding a donkey.
Side Walk interweaves seven parallel stories of
children on the way to school and back. In this independent and unprotected
twilight zone - between parent and teacher, the director traps the brief
time of childhood. The playful, the stressful, the cruel, the magical
and the thrilling moments of this daily journey, become a lucid voyage
of an illuminating and injuring experience.
